Officers stated they were contacted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then found multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police state early analysis indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to where it came from; officials are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official stated the incident made him stunned and had to be addressed quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
